Miriam Dumitra is an emerging multidisciplinary arts practitioner with an eternal love of learning. Miriam grew up in Austria, Romania, and the Philippines. At age ten, they settled in BC, where they later received their BFA in theatre from the University of Victoria. While their summers are spent portraying the apprentice blacksmith in the historic town of Barkerville, they work in more traditional arts spaces the rest of the year. Miriam’s experience encompasses mixing, recording, and livestreaming both classical and contemporary music, designing sound for theatre, and building compositions from nature recordings. They are excited for the opportunity to learn more about arts communication with Orchestras Canada.

In their spare time, find Miriam playing video games like Horizon Zero Dawn, working on a podcast about sacred reading practices, and writing plays about lesbian archivists and gender euphoria.

Miriam is based in Victoria, British Columbia, on the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
