Leah Hamilton

Chief Operating Officer, Symphony Nova Scotia (NS)

Leah Hamilton is an executive leader and strategic advisor based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with a career spanning finance, governance, and organizational development across the arts and culture sector. Leah has been with Symphony Nova Scotia since 2017- as Director of Finance and Administration,  Interim CEO, and now Chief Operating Officer — where she has overseen a $5.5M budget, led enterprise risk management, and driven key digital and operational transformations. 
Prior to joining Symphony Nova Scotia, Leah was Executive Director of Halifax Dance, leading the organization through a pivotal period of operational renewal.  For almost twenty years she had a very active arts and culture consulting practice through which she guided over 100 arts, culture, and heritage projects across Atlantic Canada in strategic planning, governance, feasibility studies, operations management, and more.
Leah is deeply committed to sector leadership and volunteerism and is thrilled to join the Orchestras Canada board. She currently sits on the Audit Committee of Orchestras Canada and has held board positions with numerous arts and culture sector organizations. She has also served on funding juries for the Canada Council for the Arts and Arts Nova Scotia.
