Leah Hamilton

Chief Operating Officer, Symphony Nova Scotia (NS)

Leah Hamilton is an executive leader and strategic advisor based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with a career spanning organizational development, finance, governance, and planning across the arts and culture sector.

Since 2017, as Director of Finance and Administration, Interim CEO, and now Chief Operating officer at Symphony Nova Scotia she has overseen a $5.5M+ budget, led enterprise risk management, and driven key digital, policy development, and operational transformations.  Prior to joining Symphony Nova Scotia,  Leah had an active +15-year arts consultancy through which she led or collaborated on over 100 arts, culture, and heritage projects across Atlantic Canada in strategic planning, business planning, governance, feasibility analysis, operational review, and financial management.  Leah has facilitated many visioning, planning, and training sessions, provided interim management services for arts organizations in key periods of transition, and conducted projects for all levels of government.  She also served as Executive Director of Halifax Dance for four years, leading the organization through a pivotal period of operational renewal.

Leah is deeply committed to sector leadership beyond her primary role. She currently serves on the Audit Committee of Orchestras Canada and has held numerous board positions with local, provincial, and national arts and culture sector organizations over the past thirty years.
