Each January, Orchestras Canada prepares a pre-budget brief for the Government of Ontario, which we share with the Minister of Finance, officials at the Ministry of Finance, and with the all-party Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs. The brief contains recommendations for the spring budget and an update on the situation, needs, and potential of Ontario’s orchestras – work that’s particularly urgent this year, in the wake of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony’s bankruptcy filing.
As hard as we work to ensure that the brief gets the hearing it deserves, we also know that “all politics is local”. So this year, we’re asking for your help in sharing our recommendations with your MPPs.
