Last June, some of you joined us in Toronto for an in-person training on Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression, and we are delighted to announce that Angela Connors is returning this fall to lead an interactive online version of the training, which is designed to help orchestras come to a shared understanding of anti-racism/anti-oppression (AR/AO) theory and practice. This interactive 6–hour training will be delivered as 3 2-hour sessions over a three-week period. It will provide an overview of anti-racist anti-oppressive concepts and terminology, examining how individuals and groups are impacted by systems of oppression and what can be done to affect change.
This training is right for you if:
- You are in a leadership position or aim to be in one at an orchestra
- You have not engaged in AR/AO training or have not engaged in one with fellow arts administrators yet
- You are interested in reflecting – with other folks who care deeply about the sector – on the uniquely orchestral implications of this work.
- You are willing to be patient with yourself and with others at various stages of learning.
