Advocacy

At Orchestras Canada, we believe that orchestras matter. We focus on issues affecting orchestras’ community vitality and artistic excellence, including arts funding, tax policy, and live performing arts’ place in Canada’s diplomatic efforts.

Each year we:

  • Consult with our members and achieve consensus on key issues and potential solutions
  • Make the case for Canadian orchestras to federal MPs, senators, and senior policy officials
  • Develop resources that orchestras can use in their own advocacy work at local, provincial and national levels
  • Represent orchestras’ interests in consultation exercises affecting arts, not-for-profit and charitable groups
  • Engage in joint action with groups with complementary interests, including the Canadian Arts Coalition and Imagine Canada, among others
