Peter Sametz

Director of Operations, Symphony New Brunswick

Peter Sametz has been involved in the Canadian orchestral community for over 50 years both as a player and a senior administrator, from Newfoundland to Alberta. He currently serves as Director of Operations for Symphony New Brunswick. He held the position of 2nd horn and Assistant Principal with the Regina Symphony for over 30 years, during which time he bargained collective agreements, served as OCSM delegate and as Chair of the RSO Players Committee, and founded Orchestra Villaticus. He sat on the Executive of OCSM as Treasurer from 2019-2022.

Peter was Associate Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Arts Board for over 20 years, during which time he was founding Treasurer of CADAC, founding member of the Creative Kids Saskatchewan executive, overseer of the province’s permanent collection of art, facilitator of the Arts Board’s Indigenous Advisory Council, instigator of the Portail Culturel Fransaskois, and a 16-year advisor to the Regina Arts Commission. He led arts related projects for the province during the 2005 Saskatchewan Centennial and the Centennial of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building, and was Assistant Vice-President [Culture] for the 2005 Canada Summer Games. He continues to serve as an advisor to the Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts.
