Regional Meeting and Learning Sessions

When: August 8-9, 2022 

Where: Capital B Room, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre, 1975 Broad St, Regina, SK S4P 1Y2 

Cost: Name your price! $100 – $125 – $150 

Your registration fee will cover the program costs plus 3 coffee breaks (Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning and afternoon) and lunch on Tuesday. You will be responsible for your travel, accommodation, and other meals  

What: Orchestras Canada (OC) is collaborating with the Organization of Canadian Symphony Musicians (OCSM) to host a 1.5-day regional meeting for western orchestras! The event will feature OC-only peer meetings plus two joint sessions with OC and OCSM delegates on respectful engagement with Indigenous communities, and innovation and resilience in the arts. Join us for an unparalleled opportunity for in-depth, meaningful discussions and learning!

Schedule – Subject to change. All times are in Central Standard Time (CST)  

  • (OPTIONAL) Sunday, August 7 
    • 8:30 pm-10:30 pm: Attendance of the Regina Symphony Orchestra’s performance at the Queen City Ex (1700 Elphinstone St) 
  • Monday, August 8
    • Morning: travel or time on your own 
    • Between 1-5 pm: OC peer group meetings  
    • 6:30-8:30pm: optional group dinner at Victoria’s Tavern | Downtown location – James Room (1965 Hamilton St, Regina, SK S4P 2C6)
       
  • Tuesday, August 9 
    • 9 am-12pm:  Shared session with the Organization of Canadian Symphony Musicians on respectful engagement with Indigenous communities, led by Merelda Fiddler-Potter. 
    • 12-1:30pm: Lunch with OCSM delegates (provided). 
    • 1:30-4:30pm:  Shared session with the Organization of Canadian Symphony Musicians on Innovation and Resilience in the Arts, Culture and Heritage (research report here) – presentation with Kelly Hill (Hill Strategies Research) and accompanying workshop, facilitated by Fanny Martin (Art of Festivals). 

Hotel: We have secured a preferential price of $149 per night (tax and fees not included) at the Hotel Saskatchewan (2125 Victoria Ave, Regina, SK S4P 0S3, Canada). The preferential price will be available until August 7, 2022. After this date, you will pay the regular hotel rate if you choose to stay there.

Hotel Saskatchewan is a 7-minute walk from the event venue. Here is a map of how to get there.

Parking is $20 per day, per vehicle, subject to space availability. 

 

Registration: Registration will close on July 25, 2022 at 5:00 pm Eastern.  Space is limited and is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

COVID-19: We respectfully ask that only those who are fully vaccinated (2 shots + booster) attend, and that you wear your mask, except when eating and drinking or outdoors with appropriate distancing. We will be careful together, but we also know that there are risks when we meet in person. Additionally, we continue to monitor COVID cases and are preparing contingency plans, ranging from outright cancellation to a virtual pivot. 

Cancellation: We accept cancellations with refunds up to 14 days prior to the start date of the event. Cancellations with less than 14 days’ notice are not refundable, however you may transfer your registration to a colleague.
