Orchestras Canada runs email discussion forums that are targeted to specific groups within OC\u2019s membership. We encourage staff and board members at OC\u2019s member orchestras to use these groups as a means of sharing resources, discussing important issues, and asking and answering questions. Get the most out of your colleagues and keep up to date with the latest developments in your field!<\/p>\n

Subscribing<\/strong><\/h5>\n

To join a peer discussion group, send an email with any subject and content to the subscribe email address supplied below (e.g. oc-development+subscribe[at]googlegroups.com). You will receive an email to confirm your subscription. Once you’ve confirmed, you’ll be able to contact everyone in the discussion group through the group email (e.g. oc-development[at]googlegroups.com).<\/p>\n

You can manage your subscriptions and view old messages here.<\/a> You can also change how frequently you receive email messages from the group by editing the green circle (every new email, maximum once per day, every 25 messages, or never). Here are the recommended guidelines for those groups. They are meant for sharing experiences and ideas, so feel free to use them!<\/h5>\n

1) To ask a question or share a resource with the group, simply send a regular email to the group’s email address (listed below). This is the quickest way for you to get answers to your questions and should be the method used most of the time.
\n2) If you want to ask a question anonymously, you can email peergroups@oc.ca<\/a> with your question, and we can share it with the group. This should only be used when you have privacy concerns in asking your question yourself. This might delay answers to your questions as we might not get to send it to the group right away.
\n3) Please refrain from asking questions about labour agreements, or compensation in general: given potential concerns about collusion, Orchestras Canada cannot host exchanges about pay or working conditions in your orchestra. A good rule of thumb: if you wouldn’t ask the question if your own musicians or staff were present, please don’t ask it here, either.<\/p>\n
