Assistant, Government Relations (Deadline: 3pm August 13, 2021)<\/strong>
\n$16\/hr, 12 hours per week, for 23 weeks (September 13, 2021 to February 18, 2022)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Assistant, Government Relations contributes to establishing, maintaining and promoting good organizational relationships with all three levels of government and their respective arts councils. This includes researching potential funding opportunities, assisting with the drafting of grant applications, assisting with non-partisan advocacy efforts, and helping to coordinate invitations to government stakeholders.<\/p>\n

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must meet the Canada Summer Jobs criteria (outlined below) to be eligible. This role reports to the Manager, Government Relations.<\/p>\n

Major Accountabilities & Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grant Applications and Government Funding<\/strong>
\n\u25cf Research potential government funding opportunities in order to determine eligibility, relevance to existing TSO priorities and programming, and strategic importance.
\n\u25cf Assist with tracking of deadlines and reporting requirements.
\n\u25cf Assist with the preparation of grant applications.
\n\u25cf Assist with the collection of statistics for government reporting.<\/p>\n

Government Relations<\/strong>
\n\u25cf Track interactions, invitations, and meetings with stakeholders and assist with updating and entering stakeholder contact information.
\n\u25cf Assist with policy research to support non-partisan advocacy initiatives.
\n\u25cf Research government stakeholders to help create invitations relevant to their interests and roles during the 2021\/22 concert season.
\n\u25cf Send out invitations, assist with follow-up calls, and thank-you notes.<\/p>\n

Executive Office<\/strong>
\n\u25cf Assist with occasional executive office tasks or other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

Experience & Qualifications<\/strong>
\n\u25cf ANY knowledge or interest in arts and culture \u2013 knowledge of orchestral or classical music is not expected or required
\n\u25cf Strong writing and research skills
\n\u25cf Interest in grant writing and\/or government relations
\n\u25cf Good phone\/email manners, customer service skills
\n\u25cf Punctual, able to prioritize tasks and work to deadlines
\n\u25cf Comfort and some experience using spreadsheets (e.g. Excel, Google Sheets) and\/or customer or donor databases<\/p>\n

Work Location: This position will primarily be working remotely but will require occasional in-person work at the TSO\u2019s administrative offices in downtown Toronto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements:<\/strong>
\nTo be eligible for this position, you must:
\n\u25cf be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
\n\u25cf be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*;
\n\u25cf have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
\n* Per the funding requirements, International Students are not eligible for Canada Summer Jobs positions.
